John McIlwraith
Glenfiddich Galloways
Puslinch, Ontario, Canada
The McIlwraith family has been involved
with the Galloway breed for generations beginning in Scotland and continuing
in Canada. John has served the breed in every capacity from show judge
to president of his association and is well known on several continents.
When asked for a summary biography, Lee and John sent the following notes
with current family news --
"Our Galloways are like extensions of
our own family. The different family bloodlines are truly remarkable, producing
strong traits of good performance, growth and character. The have
been loyal and steadfast.
"We have watched them grow and produce
for others, improving and adding new dimensions and character to their
herds. Our cattle have continually provided acclaim for our family.
We are very proud to say our patrons have been pleased with the performance
of these families.
"Now we begin a new chapter in the
'Avonlea' saga. Our son has taken a wife, Jennifer. They are
'settling' on Avonlea, the home farm. They will add deeper and richer
character to our family with the introduction of a horse facility that
includes: 22 boarding stalls, a feed room, tack room, wash rack,
indoor/outdoor riding arenas, lounge and office and last but not least
an apartment. This operation has aptly been nicknamed the 'Taj MaHorse.'
It also provides clients with six paddocks, outdoor housing, indoor and
outdoor arenas, training and lessons, and trail riding.
"Our daughter Ciaran has extended the
McIlwraith name with two wonderful grandsons and you can well imagine how
much colour and excitement Christopher and Stuart bring to the family scene.
We are rich beyond our wildest dreams!
"Our daughter Julie and her finance
Noah have the pressures of providing the family with a beautifully complementing
'femme fatale' for our future . But there is no rush to complete
this perfect picture. What will be, will be in time.
"And so, you have been introduced to
us visually and verbally in cyber-space. Please come and visit us
personally, we would love to host you and yours."
Regards,
Yours
In Galloways,
